Edition Manhattan
The Project Manager, Marty Breen, was EVP of Cumming, which contracted with Marriott. Mr. Breen communicated directly with the COO at Marriott.
This property was originally built in 1909 as the headquarters for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. The 41-story clock tower offers 360-degree views of Manhattan, and it is an iconic landmark with a profile that features significantly in the city skyline. The design and redevelopment process, with its constrained floorplate and structural limitations, was challenging. The hotel has 273 keys, including 62 luxury suites, and no residences. Because the architecture was completed by Adamson and the interior design by Rockwell, the property guests receive a disruptive and interesting experience. The renovation included full interior construction, new egress stairs and elevators, structural core, central plant, and public spaces with a lobby and bar. The property boasts a Stephen Starr branded restaurant and bar managed by Michelin-starred Executive Chef Jason Atherton.
